Prior to qualifying as a solicitor in 2006, Nick was a Registered Nurse working within the NHS from 1986 to 2004.
He undertook his training with the Public Defender service before moving into private practice. As a result of working in the criminal justice area as a nurse, Nick’s training contract was reduced by six months.
Nick qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and then as a duty solicitor in 2009.
Nick has expertise within all areas of criminal law and represents clients in the police station and at magistrates (and youth) court on a regular basis. He has also undertaken appeals of sentence in the Crown Court. He is an experienced advocate and is always available to speak to clients both in and out of office hours. He is passionate about issues of mental health and substance abuse in the criminal justice system and understands the needs of clients with these issues.
Nick has undertaken diverse cases, such as defence in the destruction of dangerous dogs, driving matters, right through to the most serious cases of GBH, murder and importation of drugs. Nick has represented clients throughout the UK from Beverley to Swindon.
Nick has been the solicitor in some high profile cases including R v S – attempted murder at Kendall’s store in Manchester and R v Azad – the Harry Potter honour case.
